McGregor (workshop facilitator) During the last week of July, a group of academics convened at the Collegeville Institute for a one-week workshop with writing coach Michael N. McGregor. The Writing Beyond the Academy workshop is intended for academics working with spiritually-oriented research or personal stories who want to reach a broader audience. Participants had the opportunity to work independently as well as access an experienced writing coach who has written successfully for a variety of audiences and taught writers of all kinds to draw more deeply from human experience and their own lives. A highlight of the workshop for many were the one-on-one meetings with the writing coach Michael N. McGregor. One participant wrote: “Michael had really given attention to my writing and gave feedback that was both honest and respectful.” When asked to reflect on what insight they will take with them, one workshop participant wrote: “It is vital to find and keep fellowship with scholars who also want to write beyond the academy, and to write in ways that are life-giving, for both themselves and others.” Like this post?
