McGregor (workshop facilitator), Roohi Choudhry, Isaac Villegas. (Bottom Row): Christie Purifoy, Melissa Florer-Bixler, and MaryAnn McKibben Dana. Advanced writers—essayists, historians, poets, and memoirists whose work involves matters of faith and the Christian life—met during the first week of August for Apart, and Yet A Part: A Week with Writing Coach Michael N. McGregor. This workshop allows for maximum time and freedom for writing, as well as access to a professional writing coach. Residents gathered in the late afternoon for a reception, common meal, and informal evening sessions. “With [writing coach Michael N. McGregor’s] encouragement,” wrote one participant, “I completely discarded one writing approach and started another much more suitable and what I had wanted to do all the time. He is very insightful…[and] very generous with his time.” Another remarked: “This was absolutely amazing. I felt so cared for and at the same time released from my normal life responsibilities such that I could really focus on my work. Such a blessing!” Like this post?
