Presented by Weldon Nisly
Collegeville Institute Resident Scholar, Mennonite pastor, Peace Activist
Christians pray, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” in the prayer that Jesus taught, yet we persist with our earthly will to wage war. What if Just War is just war? What if God’s people were to imagine and invest in Just Peace as a paradigm shift from Just War? Few wars have so clearly challenged Just War theory with their disastrous consequences as the war in Iraq. Including photos and stories from three peace team “tours” he participated in during the war in Iraq, Weldon Nisly will propose Just Peace as a more faithful and effective way to transform conflict in our world than the tragedy of just war.
