Collegeville Institute Renovation Planned October 15, 2019 By Collegeville Institute 3 Comments The much-anticipated renovation of the Collegeville Institute Guest Suites is set to begin in January 2021. After much study, design, and planning, the Board of Directors approved a work timeline for these historic Marcel Breuer buildings for spring semester (January through May) 2021. In order to accommodate this timeline, the Collegeville Institute will adjust its Resident Scholars program, temporarily closing its doors during the five-month facelift. Given this, the Collegeville Institute is now accepting Resident Scholar applications (both full-term and short-term) for fall semester only (September 1 through December 18, 2020). The goal of the renovation is to elevate the quality of the everyday living experiences for our program participants by: creating welcoming and comfortable spaces that will foster community; developing a serene and calm living environment that inspires the research, writing, and work efforts of our guests; nurturing the relationship between our guests and the surrounding natural environment. We look forward to returning the Resident Scholars program to full operation during the 2021/22 academic year in our newly renovated space. Dolores Schuh says December 20, 2019 at 10:47 am I’m curious as to how you plan to change the ten apartments so as to make them welcoming and comfortable spaces that will foster community. Having lived in Apt. 9 for 30 years, I was always of the impression that the scholars and their families found the apartments welcoming and comfortable. What changes will you make to Butler Center?
