The following housing information applies to summer writing workshops; fall writing workshops are held off-site, and the information below does not apply.
The Collegeville Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research is comprised of a cluster of ten apartments, walled with windows opening to Stumpf Lake. The Collegeville Institute, located on Saint John’s Abbey grounds and just a short walk from the Abbey and University, is surrounded by 2450 acres of woods and lakes, a wildlife refuge, a bird sanctuary, and a wetlands restoration area.
During their time at the Collegeville Institute, participants may share an apartment and bathroom with other writing workshop participants, although each will have a private bedroom. Any formal workshop meetings will take place at the Collegeville Institute Butler Center.
All meals are provided during the workshop. Participants are invited to enjoy continental breakfast and lunch at the Collegeville Institute or may eat at Saint John’s University Refectory (meal cards will be issued upon arrival). All participants will gather together for community evening meals.
Due to the constraints of our historic Marcel Breuer buildings, the Collegeville Institute is not a handicapped accessible facility at the present time. We ask that program participants who need physical accommodations inform us of their needs in advance so that alternative meeting and housing arrangements can be made.
