In 500 words or less, please describe how your research addresses the relationships between religion and culture in today’s world. What is the relevance of your work for the contemporary religious setting? What are its areas of application for religious life?

In 500 words or less, please describe how your research coalesces with the work of Thomas Hoyt, Jr., and identify the contributions your work will make to ecumenism and cultural research.

In 500 words or less, please describe how your project meets one or more of the following points of criteria, and how your project deepens mutual understanding and builds connections among all people. (1) Explores the relationship between art and lived religion. Projects may be specific to an artist or art form: religious insight, for example, in the novels, paintings, or music of a given artist; or more general, such as the place of imagination in the life of faith; or may themselves be works of arts in progress. (2) Brings theological or religious resources to bear on current social, political, or cultural circumstances. (3) Considers some aspect of the natural world in relationship to religious thought and practice.

The Collegeville Institute is located on a wildlife refuge and is adjacent to a bird sanctuary and wetlands restoration area. As such, no pets are allowed, and all residents must follow posted regulations concerning these areas. * The Collegeville Institute is located adjacent to Stumpf Lake, regarding which no swimming, nor winter activities on the ice are permitted. * All residents and family members are urged to exercise caution when they are near the water/ice. * The Collegeville Institute is located in a rural area, and public transportation is very limited (almost non-existent). * The Collegeville Institute's indoor facilities are smoke-free. * Resident Scholars should plan to devote their full time to their research project as described in their application. We ask, therefore, that time away from Collegeville be limited.
