Reflections on the Communities of Calling Initiative August 9, 2023 By Collegeville Institute Leave a Comment The Communities of Calling Initiative helps congregations discover and deepen their sense of God’s callings in the lives of their communities. We believe God calls church communities in many ways: through individuals, as congregations, within surrounding neighborhoods, and among all of creation. With our partner congregations, we develop and curate resources on calling and discernment for public use. Pastor Kim Knowle-Zeller of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, MO reflects on her time in Collegeville for the final Communities of Calling Initiative annual gathering in June. Kim has also participated in a number of writing workshops at the Collegeville Institute. “An hour north of Minneapolis, where the skyscrapers have been replaced by wildflowers and glistening lakes, and the prairie grass sways in the wind, a community of prayer lives. At St. John’s Abbey, a community devoted to monastic life – the monks live, work, pray and serve together. They welcome visitors into their sacred spaces to experience a life rooted in prayer.” Read the rest of Pastor Knowle-Zeller’s reflection. Like this post?
