Creativity and Calling July 10, 2019 By Collegeville Institute Leave a Comment Image: © Collegeville Institute, 2019. Original artwork by Timothy Foss, More Belief. Creativity took center stage at the first Communities of Calling Initiative meeting, held June 23-26, 2019 in Collegeville. After months of listening and discerning, team members from the 14 partner congregations came together with the goal of strengthening their project proposals, along with building community as a cohort and deepening their theologies of vocation. To get the creative juices flowing, the CCI leadership team commissioned graphic recorder Tim Foss to graphically depict each written project proposal. His artwork served as a conversation starter that helped teams think more deeply about how they will use their $30,000 grant—and why. The meeting began with teams praying visio divina with their poster, a spin off an ancient monastic prayer that invites participants to see how God is communicating with them through the artwork. Teams drew inspiration from images on their posters throughout the meeting, as well as from conversations with other congregations addressing similar issues. Feedback from participants showed many left the meeting feeling more confident about their projects as they prepare to launch this fall. Like this post?
