Collegeville Institute Alumni Meet at Festival of Faith and Writing April 12-14, 2018April 20, 2018 By Collegeville Institute Leave a Comment Collegeville Institute alumni Shirley Showalter, Heidi Havercamp, and Christina Kukuk at the Festival of Faith and Writing. On April 12, 2018 the Collegeville Institute hosted an alumni gathering at the Festival of Faith and Writing at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Staff members Stina Kielsmeier-Cook and Laura Kelly Fanucci organized the event, which was attended by 30-40 alumni of the Collegeville Institute’s writing workshops, Seminars, and Resident Scholar programs. Alumni had a chance to connect with one another and provide feedback on the Collegeville Institute’s writing programs. Alumni were also given the opportunity to share favorite memories of their time in Collegeville. Christie Purifoy wrote: “My second book was born at Collegeville, as I wrote and revised the first three chapters there. The trees around the lake whisper in my words. Forever grateful.” Collegeville Institute alumni were well represented among the Festival of Faith and Writing’s speakers and panels, including writers such as Kate Bowler, Lauren F. Winner, Angela Alaimo O’Donnell, Katherine Willis Pershey, Parker Palmer, and many more. In total, nearly 2,000 writers attended the conference. View more photos from the alumni gathering below.
