Call for Proposals: Virtual Event Series

May 6, 2022 By Collegeville Institute Leave a Comment

At the Collegeville Institute, we offer two kinds of virtual events: (1) Monthly Collegeville Connections virtual presentations to highlight the work of CI alumni and friends (i.e., research, scholarship, book publication), and (2) Bi-monthly Faith Life, Writing Life spiritual writing workshops designed to share skills, build community, and encourage faith writers. All events are one hour, hosted on Zoom’s webinar format, and streamed live on Facebook.

Collegeville Connections

Collegeville Connections gives scholars, faith leaders, and artists the opportunity to share their knowledge with the greater CI community. We invite CI alumni to submit a proposal for a Collegeville Connections presentation for the 2022-23 academic year (September-April).

Proposal Guidelines:
CI alumni present on a subject area of their expertise. We invite presentations that examine relationships between religion and culture, highlight unexplored facets of contemporary religious life, and/or suggest faithful responses to today’s problems and opportunities. Collegeville Connections virtual presentations may be in the form of a lecture, panel discussion, interview, reading, conversation, or some combination of the above. We encourage you to view previous Collegeville Connections events on our website. Not sure if your idea fits our guidelines? Contact us at news@collegevilleinstitute.org and we can give you feedback.

Applications must include: (1) project title and summary, (2) general outline of a 55-minute program, and (3) brief description (200 words or less) about how this project connects with the mission of the Collegeville Institute, which “brings together people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives to foster the world’s healing through the power of religious ideas, insight, and practices.”

Faith Life, Writing Life

Faith Life, Writing Life is a craft workshop for spiritual writers and artists offered twice per month. We invite writers to submit a proposal for the 2022-23 academic year (September-April).

Proposal Guidelines:
Spiritual writers and artists present an element of writing or art (i.e., using concrete detail in memoir, elements of liturgical writing, or getting unstuck on a writing project). Faith Life, Writing Life presentations should be interactive and give participants the opportunity to create in community.

Applications must include: (1) project title and summary, (2) general outline of a 55-minute program, and (3) brief description (200 words or less) about how this workshop encourages spiritual writers and helps them build their craft.

 Proposal Process

  • Submit Collegeville Connections or Faith Life, Writing Life proposals via email to news@collegevilleinstitute.org by Monday, June 6, 2022. All applicants will be notified of our decision by mid-July 2022
  • If your proposal is accepted, Collegeville Institute staff will contact you to schedule your presentation during the 2022-23 academic year (September to April). In general, our virtual events are hosted on Wednesdays at 12-1 PM central time.
  • Accepted proposals will receive an honorarium of $100, paid following the event
