Christian Spirituality and the Writing Life A Week with Lauren Winner, July 18-27, 2016July 27, 2016 By Collegeville Institute Leave a Comment 2016 Christian Spirituality and the Writing Life workshop participants: Anthony Siegrist, Hannah Piecuch, Camille Loomis, Jessica Goudeau, Laura Werezak, Rosa Lindahl, Elyse Nelson Winger, Lauren Winner (workshop facilitator), Kurt Armstrong, Kate Bowler, Deanna Thompson, Roger Owens, and Rachel Twigg-Boyce. The Collegeville Institute hosted its longest ever summer writing workshop, Christian Spirituality and the Writing Life, last week. Participants had 10 days to settle into a rhythm of personal writing time in the morning and afternoon group workshops facilitated by Lauren Winner. The group discussed the craft of spiritual writing, which include questions such as: “How do I write about faith without lecturing or falling into dogma?” and “How do I help readers wrestle with God?” Workshop participants appreciated the longer workshop length, commenting that “I was able to be far more productive than I would have been with a 7-day workshop” and that “the extended time deepened exponentially what I got out of the experience.” They also enjoyed Lauren’s teaching, describing her as “engaging, funny, knowledgeable and dead serious about writing.” Like this post?
