Tales from a Piano Bench and a Bicycle Seat March 29, 2022 By Collegeville Institute Leave a Comment Collegeville Institute staff and Resident Scholars at George Maurer’s presentation. On Tuesday, March 29, George Maurer, Collegeville Institute Resident Scholar and Artist-in-Residence, presented Tales from a Piano Bench and a Bicycle Seat: the art of listening in a fractured world! at the Benedictine Institute’s Lunch and Learn event. Invoking the first words of The Rule of St. Benedict, “Listen carefully,” Maurer shared how the Benedictine value of listening has shaped his life and spurred him to action. Whether on a bicycle seat or a piano bench, George’s artistic curiosity and travels intersect in the art he creates. He draws together his musical knowledge with cultural explorations, creating a diversity of listening experiences that pull deeply at the ears of his heart. Did you miss this event?
