New Members Join Collegeville Institute Board of Directors

The Collegeville Institute board of directors gathered for their spring meeting on May 6 – 7. Laura Kelly Fanucci gave a presentation on the Communities of Calling Initiative, which is in its first year. The board also elected three new members: Adam J. Copeland, Nicholas Denysenko, and Jerry Roelofs. The board will meet again in the fall.

Introducing New Board Members

Adam J. Copeland is Assistant Professor of Leadership and Director of the Center for Stewardship Leaders at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Copeland brings his experience in communication and leadership from both ministry and academic settings. He received a B.A. from St. Olaf College. He holds a M.Div. from Columbia Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Writing, and Culture from North Dakota State University.

Nicholas Denysenko serves as Emil and Elfriede Jochum Professor and Chair at Valparaiso University. He previously taught at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles (2010-2017). Denysenko is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (B.S. in Business, 1994), St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (M.Div., 2000), and The Catholic University of America (Ph.D., 2008). His most recent books are The People’s Faith: The Liturgy of the Faithful in Orthodoxy (Rowman and Littlefield), and The Orthodox Church in Ukraine: A Century of Separation (Northern Illinois University Press). Denysenko participates in the Christian Initiation Seminar of the North American Academy of Liturgy. He is a deacon of the Orthodox Church in America, ordained in 2003.
Jerry Roelofs is the owner of a home remodeling company that has been “Building fine homes for over 50 years . . . one room at a time!” He has served in several leadership positions in his industry. He attended the University of Minnesota to study music and spent the next 12 years singing in nightclubs. He still provides artistic content and sings with the Apollo Male Chorus or lullabies to his grandchildren. He lives in Minnetonka, MN with his wife, Linda.
