On June 17-23, a group of women writers gathered at the Collegeville Institute for a new summer writing workshop led by Renita Weems and Kathryn Stanley. The workshop, titled From Journaling to Memoir: Making Sense of Your Inner World, helped participants to hone their skill in writing short personal essays. Writers had the opportunity to share their work and receive one-on-one coaching during the week. When asked to reflect on what they learned at the workshop, one participant wrote: “Journaling is an art, and good writers are not necessarily talented, but disciplined.” Another commented that “God wants to use my story… to bring healing [and] insight to others, so I need to take the time to write my story.” Reflecting on the leadership of Renita Weems and Kathryn Stanley, one writer summed it up in one word: “Excellent!” Like this post?
