Called to Lives of Meaning and Purpose Initiative Holds Opening Meeting December 19, 2018 By Jessie Bazan Leave a Comment Nearly 40 theologians and ministers gathered for the first annual Called to Lives of Meaning and Purpose Initiative meeting from December 10-12 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Participants represented the 13 hubs working with the five-year grant, as well as the Lilly Endowment, Inc. This year’s meeting focused on theologies of vocation: What language do we use to talk about vocation? How do different denominations approach questions of calling? How can we encourage congregations to integrate theologies of vocation into their ministries? In addition to studying and working together, the group prayed together twice a day. The interactive worship services included a litany of all the congregations who are a part of the grant initiative—more than 150 from across the United States and Canada.
