Even though many Christians intuit that there should be a strong connection between the two, the contemporary U.S. context of political, social, and economic polarization can severely hamper churches’ attempts to embody this connection. This discussion presents a way forward in navigating the often tumultuous question of how to concretely relate liturgy to justice and love of neighbor. Benjamin Durheim received his PhD from Boston College and is a visiting assistant professor of theology at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. He has published articles on liturgical and sacramental theology, especially as they relate to issues of Christian identity and ecumenical conversation. His book, Christ’s Gift, Our Response, has recently been published by Liturgical Press. He received an MA in theology from Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary, and a BA in theology and chemistry from Saint John’s University. Watch a video of the lecture:
