A Sparked Imagination November 5, 2024 By Event Details Date(s): Monday, Jun 23rd, 2025-Friday, Jun 27th, 2025 Venue: Collegeville Institute Categories: Writing Workshop Whence inspiration? The last few years have been quite taxing for pastors and other leaders of institutions, congregations, communities—for all those leading others in hoping, praying, and acting in the world. This workshop aims to nourish and restore the imaginations of those who are responsible for nourishing the imaginations of their communities. To stretch and stock our imaginations, we will, among other things, engage poetry, visual art, writing about visual art; delve into the histories of words; practice thinking and writing metaphorically. We will also keep a good deal of silence and space in our day for reading and writing (or walking, or breathing). Participants will not exchange writing with fellow workshop members ahead of time, though there may be a bit of reading to do in early June. The Rev. Dr. Lauren Winner is Associate Professor of Christian Spirituality at Duke Divinity School and Vicar of St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Durham, N.C. Her books include Girl Meets God, Mudhouse Sabbath, A Cheerful and Comfortable Faith, Still: Notes on a Mid-Faith Crisis, and Wearing God. Application Process: Applications are due Monday, January 20, 2025. Apply here.
