Janel Kragt Bakker
Janel Kragt Bakker is the former Associate Director of the Collegeville Institute. She earned her doctorate in religion and culture from The Catholic University of America in 2010 and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in religious practices and practical theology at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology in 2011. Janel has taught courses in religious studies at various colleges and universities in addition to working as a high school humanities teacher and researcher. Her book, Sister Churches: American Congregations and Their Partners Abroad was released in 2013 from Oxford University Press, and her most recent research examines the religious dimensions of parents’ bereavement.
