On this same registration form, you can register to reserve a 45-minute one-on-one session with a writing mentor. Limited space is available for private writing sessions, so if the one-on-ones are full, you can sign-up to be on the waitlist. Mallory McDuff, Delicia Daniels, Susanne Paola Antonetta, and Brit Washburn will offer one-on-one writing coaching. Amy Peterson will host co-writing. At 3:00 pm, poet Rick Chess will give a plenary: “The Road Not Yet Taken.” in Frost’s famous poem, he writes, “knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.” How does way lead on to way in our work? In this plenary, we will look at some exemplary texts, mostly poems, paying close attention to how they move from moment-to-moment. Then, we will look at some of our work-in-progress, including work we started today, to see if we can hear or see some hints of roads not yet taken. Finally, we will do a little more writing, setting out on one or another of those roads to see where it leads. This session will be grounded in several contemplative practices intended to help us listen and look attentively and receptively at the language in the works of others and our own work. Our partnering organization for this workshop is Trinity Episcopal Church. Learn more about our Pop-Up Writing Workshops here.
